McCLATCHY, Richard A., Jr., a Representative from Montgomery County; born in Ardmore, Montgomery County, Pa., November 6, 1929; graduated, Malvern Preparatory School, 1948; attended, College of the Holy Cross, 1949; B.S., Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, 1952; lieutenant, United States Navy (1952-1954, Korean War); employee, McClatchy Builders Corp.; co-chair, Scranton Gubernatorial Campaign Headquarters (1962); campaign worker, Presidential and Gubernatorial Campaigns (1964-1966); elected, commissioner, Lower Merion Township (1965-1969); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1968 and served 9 more consecutive terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1988); elected, chair, Minority Appropriations Committee (1985-1988); owner and director, Bryn Mawr Terrace Convalescent Center (1985-2004); died, February 26, 2004 in West Chester, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
