Patrick James Stapleton, Jr., (D), born in 1924, in Indiana, son of Patrick and Bertha Stadtmiller; Indiana Area High School, 1943; attended Penn State University; Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP)(B.S.), social studies, 1950; married Madeline Feidler; 1 son; died March 30, 2001.

Early Career:

U.S. Navy, 1943-47, WWII; restaurant owner; chair, Indiana University of Pennsylvania Council of Trustees; County Commissioner, 1962-69; past president, Comprehensive Health, Pa. State Association of Commissioners; director, Southwest Pa. Economic Development District; member, Licensed Practical Nurse Association of Pa. Advisory Board, WPSX-TV Community Advisory Board, Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Elks, Grange, Boy Scouts of America Council at large, State Task Force on Comprehensive Health, State Agricultural Land Preservation Board, Indiana University of Pennsylvania  Patrick J. Stapleton Jr. Library, St. Bernard’s Church; board of governors, Pa. State System of Higher Education (PASSHE), 1988; treasurer, Rural Center for Pa.

Awards:
