Born July 6, 1873, Bloomsburg, Columbia County, Pa.; moved at 11 to Wilkes-Barre, moving at 16 to Philadelphia; Educated in public schools, Central High School of Philadelphia, graduating in 1893; Attended University of Pennsylvania Law school, did not graduate, the result of passing the law boards before ceremonies, reading at the firm of Smithers and Shakespeare; admitted to the bar in 1895; member of the House, 1899-1900; 1909-1914; elected to the Senate to fill vacancy for the April 1936 Special Session. He passed away in Philadelphia on Dec. 9, 1945.
