Septimus Evans Nivin (D19) Chester County 1891-1892

Early Life:

Septimus Evans Nivin, born April 12, 1842, London Britain Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, son of David and Sarah Ann Evans Nivin; private school education; West Chester Academy; engaged, dairyman, jersey cattle breeder on a farm purchased by one of his ancestors John Evans of Denbigh Wales from William Penn, 1715; school director, Chester County, treasurer, 30 years; served at one time or another all-township offices, exception constable office; elected, Democrat, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1891-1892; treasurer, Pennsylvania State Grange; director, West Chester First National Bank; died, at home, pneumonia, December 22, 1926 (aged 84), London Britain Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania; interment, New London Presbyterian Church Cemetery, New London Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.

Early Career:

Engaged, dairyman, jersey cattle breeder on a farm purchased by one of his ancestors, John Evans of Denbigh, Wales, from William Penn, 1715.

Pennsylvania Politics:

Elected, Democrat, Pennsylvania State Senate, 19th district, Chester County, 1891-1892, open seat, resignation, Abram D. Harlan, defeated D. Smith Talbot, 394 votes. No listing for committees, 1891-1892.
