George Shannon Mullin, born June 14, 1786, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, moved, Bedford County, 1805 or 1806; engaged, blacksmithing, Schellsburg, Pennsylvania; engaged, blacksmithing, owner, Rising Sun hotel tavern; farming, sawmill, gristmill 1818-1822; elected, Bedford County Sheriff, 1822, one term; returned to his farming, kept the Rising Sun hotel four years. elected, Bedford County Sheriff, 1833, one term; elected, Whig Pennsylvania State Senate, 15th district 1842-1843; elected, Whig, Pennsylvania State Senate, 19th district 1844; married, Catharine Hammer; children, Eliza Mullin, Joseph Hammer Mullin, James Mullin, John Mullin, David W Mullin, Alexander C Mullin; died, April 6, 1867, (aged 80), residence, Harrison Township, Bedford, Bedford County, Pennsylvania; interment Bedford Cemetery, Bedford, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.
