Judge Francis McClure, Sr., born October 05, 1739, Raphoe, County Donegal, Ireland; son of Samuel and Sarah McKim McClure; education took place in Ireland; strict observer of the United Presbyterian faith; emigrated to America, settled Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, 1770; private, American Revolution for Pennsylvania; removed to Wheeling, Virginia, where he served as postmaster several years, came to Mifflin Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, 1788; married, Margaret McClure, 1782, children, Sarah, Martha, Samuel, Alexander, Ann, Elizabeth, Andrew, Margaret, Francis McKim, and Mary Ann Riddle McClure associate judge, Allegheny County; elected, Democratic-Republican, Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, 1805-1809; elected, Democratic-Republican, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1809-1812died, April 22, 1843 (age 103), Mifflin Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interment, Lebanon Church Cemetery, West Mifflin, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
