Albert Darlington Boyd, Sr., born December 31, 1845, Menallen Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania; son of William and Jane Catherine Burgess Boyd; public school education; teacher, Fayette township schools, Connellsville; attended, Morgantown Academy (West Virginia University); studied law, while teaching, under Judge Alpheus E. Wilson; admitted, Fayette County bar in 1869; lawyer; law practice, Uniontown, Pennsylvania; married, Anna Elizabeth “Annie” Patterson Boyd, children, Alpheus E. Boyd, Samuel P. Boyd, Albert D. Boyd, Jr., Wallace B. Boyd, and Mary E. Boyd; elected, Democrat, district attorney, Fayette County, 1871-1874; retired, private law practice; chairman, Democratic Fayette County Committee, 1875-1898; elected, Democrat, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1899-1902; died, September 4, 1911 (aged 65) Fayette County, Pennsylvania, interment, Oak Grove Cemetery, South Union Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.
