Of Fayette County; Albert D. Boyd was the son of William and Jane C. (Burgess) Boyd, born December 31, 1845, Menallen Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.  He received his education in public schools; taught several terms in Fayette township schools and one year in Connellsville; and attended two terms at Morgantown Academy (West Virginia University).  While still teaching, he studied law under Judge Alpheus E. Wilson and was admitted to the Fayette County bar in 1869.  Settling in Uniontown, he married Margaret Patterson.  He was elected as a Democrat to the office of district attorney in 1871; served until 1874; retired to private practice; chaired the Democratic County Committee until 1898; elected state Senator, serving 1899-1902.  The Hon. Albert Boyd died in 1910.
