Doctor E. A. Wood, born March 16, 1836, Brownsville, Fayette County Pennsylvania; State Normal School at California, Pennsylvania; studied medicine, Case Western Reserve College, Cleveland, Ohio; private practice, Green Oaks, McKeesport, Pennsylvania, 1857; later moved to Library, an unincorporated community, South Park Township, Pennsylvania then settled in Pittsburgh; President, State Medical Society; member, American Medical Society; one of the first medical Professor of Dietetics and Hygiene, Western Pennsylvania Medical College (University of Pittsburgh; elected, Democrat, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1875-1876; member, Pittsburgh Board of Guardians; unsuccessful campaign, mayor of Pittsburgh, 1884; delegate, Democratic National Convention from Pennsylvania, 1880; appointment, presidential, Examiner of Pensions, 1885-1889; first president, Southside Medical Society; author, publisher, libretto, Lion of Peru, drama, Carl the Prize Winner; died, June, 4, 1894, Philadelphia Hospital; burial location unknown.
