Early Life:

Mary Jo White (R), born December 1941, in Chicago, IL, daughter of Patricia and the late Joseph E. Ransford; Aquinas High School, 1959; Quincy University (B.A.), 1963; University of Pittsburgh School of Law (J.D.), 1967; married Judge H. William White; 3 children: H. William III, David Ransford, Allison Patricia.

Early Career:

Associate/law firm of Dale & Woodward; Venango County public defender; vice president, Quaker State, 1976-95; board member, Northwest Regional Planning & Development Corporation, Center for Rural Pa. Environmental Quality, Westminster College trustees; member, Military Academy Selection Committee 5th Congressional District; chair, Barrow Civic Theatre Foundation, Nursing Advisory Commission of Clarion University.

Pennsylvania Politics:

Elected to Pa. Senate 1996; chair, Environmental Resources & Energy Committee; member, Appropriations, Consumer Protection & Professional Licensure, Judiciary, Public Health & Welfare Committees; left office January 1, 2013.
