Born February 5, 1883, Charles J. Magee was the son of Edward Simpson and Elizabeth (Sees) Magee; nephew of Chrissie Magee; and one of two brothers to serve in the state senate; educated in public schools, St. Vincent’s College, graduated from Georgetown University and Pittsburgh Law School; prepared for the bar under his older brother, William A. Magee, admitted in 1912.  He was a member of St. Rosalia’s Catholic Church and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.  He died of pneumonia, suffering from influenza while a seated senator March 13, 1917, interred in Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh.  He was 34.
