Robert Plunket Maclay
Son of Pennsylvania and U.S. Senator Samuel Maclay and the former Elizabeth Plunket, born April 19, 1799, Lewisburg, Union County; educated at the Bedford Academy; state House of Representatives, 1833-1836; prothonotary of Union County, 1836-1837; state Senate, 1839-1843; moved to Clarion County where he was appointed Associate Judge under Gov. Johnston; moved to Missouri, engaged in the construction of the Iron Mountain Railroad; returned to Clarion in 1857, until the death of his brother in law, Dr. Joseph Henderson; then moved to the Kishacoquillas Valley, living with his sons and grandsons until his death. He married Margaret C. Lashells, May 6, 1825, Union County; and died August 16, 1884, Kishacoquillas Valley, Mifflin County.
