The son of the Rev. Dr. Francis and Mary (Moore) Laird, daughter of President Judge and state Senator John Moore, Harrison P. Laird was born in 1814, Franklin Township, Westmoreland County.    Harrison’s father, as his father-in-law, was also a member of the 1776 Constitutional Convention.  Born crippled, he graduated from Jefferson College; attended Madison Academy, Kentucky; and Transylvania College, Kentucky.  Read law with Charles Shaler of Pittsburgh and practiced in Greensburg; member of state House of Representatives, 1849-1850, and the state Senate, 1884-1888.  He died on October 16, 1897.
