Born on December 4, 1805, the son of George and Anna Margretha (Ellmaker) Kinzer), East Earl Township, Lancaster County; attended subscription schools; farmer; studied medicine with Dr. John Luther; enrolled at the Medical Dept. of the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1829; private practice in Leacock Township; aligned with Lancaster Whigs; elected to the state Senate; retired in 1856  due to failing health; moved to Lancaster City where he died, September 6, 1861.  He married Catherine Roland of New Holland.
