John Killinger was the father of state Senator and Congressman John W. Killinger; born February 22, 1797, Annville, Lebanon County, the son of Andreus and Manna Maria Killinger.  He received a common education; emerged as a successful merchant; and entered the state Senate in 1838, serving through 1841. He passed away, September 17, 1860, interred at Evergreen Cemetery, Lebanon County.  Senator Killinger married Fannie Shertzer.
