Benjamin Jordan, born July 19, 1779, Milton, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania; son of Thomas and Rachel Steele Jordan; engaged, bookseller trade with William Dickson; editor, Lancaster Intelligencer, 1805-1808; married, Mary Crouch, 1811; appointed, weighmaster, Port of Philadelphia; elected, Whig, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1846-1848; died, May 24, 1861, Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania; interment, Paxton Presbyterian Churchyard, Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania Politics:

Appointed, weighmaster, Port of Philadelphia. 

Elected, Whig, Pennsylvania State Senate, 14th district, Dauphin and Northumberland Counties, 1846-1848.
