The son of Jacob and Elizabeth (Schneider) Rahn; moved from Kutztown, Berks Co. to Orwigsburg, Schuylkill County; Schuylkill County Sheriff, 1820-1831; Prothonotary, 1839; first president of the Farmers Bank of Schuylkill County, 1845; state senator, 1845-1846; member state House of Representatives, 1824-1827, 1829; Chief Burgess, Ashland Borough, 1859; associate judge of Schuylkill County. Rahn Township named in his honor, 1860; 1829 patented 300 acres of coal land in Schuylkill County; apparently died in 1862; notes that he was replaced on the bench, deceased, by Gov. Curtin in 1862.
