Born, April 16, 1822, Paradise, Leacock Twp., Lancaster County, the son of Andrew and Mary (Miller) Dunlap of Weavertown, Dr. Dunlap graduated from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, in 1845, returning to Manheim to open a private practice, marrying Matilda Arndt of Manheim shortly thereafter. Dunlap built an extensive private practice; was elected to the state Senate during the Civil War, 1864-1866; a founder of the Manheim National Bank; a member of its Board of Directors for many years; became burgess of Manheim; a member of the borough council and school board; and was a member of the Republican Party until his death on April 4, 1898.
