Biography

Born in Falls Township, Wyoming County, October 17, 1854, the son of Amos and Elizabeth Dewitt, Asa was educated in public schools and Wyoming Seminary; pursued a career in the banking business rising to cashier and director of the First National Bank of Plymouth; treasurer of Plymouth borough; farming and manufacturing interests; elected to the state Senate in 1910, serving four consecutive terms thereafter. He died April 13, 1935, Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Luzerne County.
