Molton Cropper Rogers

Born March 11, 1786, Milford Delaware, son of Daniel and Esther Rogers. Molton’s father served as a state Senator and Governor of Delaware (1797); Princeton College; studied law in Litchfield Connecticut; moved to Lancaster, where he was admitted to the bar in 1811; practiced law; law partner of James Buchanan; elected to the state Senate, 1819-1820; Sec. of the Commonwealth under Gov. Shulze, 1823-1826; served 25 years as supreme court justice, 1826 to 1842; married Eliza Jacobs in 1819, who died in 1820. He never remarried. He died in Philadelphia on September 27, 1863.
