SMITH, Harry J., born, October 6, 1865 in Allentown, Lehigh County, Pa.; attended Allentown public schools; served, 4th Infantry, Pennsylvania Company D, United States National Guard; employed, shoe factory; engaged in the confectionary business; employed, cement business; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1921 term; reelected to the House to serve 4 more successive terms; unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the House (1930); member, Lehigh County Republican Committee; superintendent, United States Employment Office, Allentown; superintendent, Unemployment Office of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; died, April 28, 1951; interred, Union-West End Cemetery, Allentown, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.
