BURCHINAL, William James, a Representative from Fayette County; born, February 17, 1893 in Georges Township, Fayette County, Pa.; served, United States Army (World War I); engaged in the coke and coal industry; agricultural merchandiser; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1922; reelected in 1924; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1926); deputy treasurer, Fayette County (1924-1925); gubernatorial appointee, State Workmen’s Compensation Board (1930-1935); president, Smithfield State Bank (1935- 1956); gubernatorial appointee, Unemployment Compensation Board (1952-1957); died, November 22, 1973 in Fairchance, Fayette County, Pennsylvania; interred, Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.
