Attended local schools; went into his father’s business; opening his own in Tannersville; postmaster of Tannersville; moved to Weatherly in 1891 and purchased a general store; acquired the Weatherly Foundry and Manufacturing Co.; organized the First National Bank, serving as president; purchased the Allen Candy Company; stockholder in the Onoko Silk Co. and Weatherly Steel Co.; chief burgess, member borough council, and school board; Chief Burgess of Weatherly; secured the first concrete highway in his district
