Committee | EDUCATION | Date | June 15, 2015 |
Bill/Resolution | HB1112 PN1442 A02016 | Type of Motion | Adopt Amendment |
Maker of Motion | Rep. Brown | Seconded by | Rep. Grove |
Brief Description |
Replaces the immediate suspension of redundant, overly burdensome, or no longer necessary data collection requirements with a requirement that the State Board of Education in conjunction with the advisory committee issue a report of its findings and recommendations to the chairmen and minority chairmen of the Education Committees of the House and Senate as well as post the report on the department’s publicly accessible website. The amendment also terminates, by the conclusion of the school year after the issuance of the report, all burdensome, redundant, or unnecessary data collection requirements that are not required by state law or regulation. The amendment makes some technical adjustments as well, and allows the chairmen and minority chairmen of the House and Senate Education Committees to name designees to serve on the advisory committee. The amendment further changes the makeup of the advisory committee by replacing four seats delegated to business managers with four seats delegated to governing board members from each category of public school entity. The amendment also specifies that no data collection requirement imposed by the Federal government shall be subject to termination under this section.
