House Committee Roll Call Votes

Committee TRANSPORTATION Date September 17, 2014
Bill/Resolution SB1239 PN1722 A09531 Type of Motion Adopt Amendment
Maker of Motion Rep. McGeehan Seconded by Rep. Marsico
Brief Description
Changes when a person is considered to have committed a DUI pertaining to repeat offenders from the date of sentencing to the date of conviction. Some people have been able to get multiple "1st time DUI's" by pleading guilty to multiple DUI's before any of them are sentenced. Also, currently if more than 10 years passes from the day of a DUI offense and you receive another, it is not considered a second and the record is cleaned, but this bill would change that from 10 years from the date of the offense to 10 years from the date of sentencing.
