WHEREAS, Programs like the Ben Franklin Technology Partners,
which partner with the Department of Community and Economic
Development, support robotics and technology-based industries
across this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Learning about robotics at a young age can promote
the development of important skills, such as critical and
creative thinking and problem solving, while also promoting
educational concepts like science, mathematics and computer
science; and
WHEREAS, The first annual "National Robotics Week" was
designated in 2010 by the United States House of Representatives
to promote the ever-growing robotics industry throughout the
country; and
WHEREAS, Events such as industry showcases and robotics
competitions are held during "National Robotics Week" to inspire
students to consider careers in the science, technology,
engineering and mathematics, or STEM, fields; and
WHEREAS, Industry leaders demonstrate through "National
Robotics Week" the prevalence of robots in our society and that
robots can come in many different shapes and sizes to perform a
variety of helpful tasks that benefit our planet as a whole; and
WHEREAS, "National Robotics Week" serves to encourage
students across the country to get involved in the robotics
field and learn more about the ways that robots continue to
shape the world around them; and
WHEREAS, The House of Representatives recognizes the crucial
role that this Commonwealth plays in the global robotics
industry and the importance of inspiring the next generation of
