A RESOLUTION
Designating October 19, 2023, as "Purple Thursday" and as
"Domestic Violence Awareness Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Domestic violence is a pervasive problem affecting
individuals, families and communities across the United States,
including this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, It is essential to raise public awareness about
domestic violence and its devastating impact on victims,
families and society as a whole; and
WHEREAS, "Purple Thursday" is a national campaign aimed at
promoting awareness about domestic violence, highlighting the
importance of prevention and providing support for victims and
survivors; and
WHEREAS, The color purple symbolizes courage, peace, survival
and dedication to ending domestic violence; and
WHEREAS, This Commonwealth recognizes the significance of
"Domestic Violence Awareness Day" as an opportunity to educate
the public, encourage community involvement and foster an
