AN ACT
Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
act relating to the public school system, including certain
provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
laws relating thereto," providing for Shared Services Grant
Program.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known
as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by adding an
article to read:
ARTICLE XV-N
SHARED SERVICES GRANT PROGRAM
Section 1501-N. Scope of article.
This article relates to the Shared Services Grant Program.
Section 1502-N. Definitions.
The following words and phrases when used in this article
shall have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
context clearly indicates otherwise:

"Department." The Department of Education of the
Commonwealth.
"Program." The Shared Services Grant Program established
under section 1503-N.
Section 1503-N. Grant program.
The Shared Services Grant Program is established and shall be
administered by the department. Grants provided under the
program shall be used to improve and enhance the capabilities of
local governments through shared services activities such as
regionalization, consolidation, shared capacity, boundary change
or personnel sharing.
Section 1504-N. Notice.
By March 1, 2024, and each March 1 thereafter, the department
shall provide information regarding the availability and award
of program grant money on the publicly accessible Internet
website of the department and transmit notice to the Legislative
Reference Bureau for publication in the Pennsylvania Bulletin.
Section 1505-N. Appropriation.
The General Assembly shall appropriate money as it deems
necessary to pay the costs for the implementation and
administration of this article.
Section 1506-N. Report.
By March 1, 2024, and each March 1 thereafter, the department
shall prepare and submit a report to the General Assembly on the
amount, purpose and recipients of program grant money awarded in
the prior calendar year.
Section 1507-N. Regulations.
The department shall promulgate rules and regulations as it
deems necessary to effectuate the provisions of this article.
Section 2. This act shall take effect in 365 days.
