AN ACT
Providing for the adoption of a population data set certified by
the Legislative Reapportionment Commission and providing for
use requirement in congressional redistricting legislation.
WHEREAS, Redistricting of congressional seats is required
following each decennial United States Census to equalize
district populations; and
WHEREAS, Accurate population data are the foundation for a
fair redistricting process; and
WHEREAS, The United States Census Bureau provided population
data to Pennsylvania on August 12, 2021; and
WHEREAS, The Legislative Reapportionment Commission certified
that population data from the United States Census Bureau is
available, pursuant to section 17(c) of Article II of the
Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, for purposes
of redistricting.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Short title.
This act shall be known and may be cited as the Congressional

Redistricting Data Set Act.
Section 2. Definitions.
The following words and phrases when used in this act shall
have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
context clearly indicates otherwise:
"Data Set Number One." The adjusted census data that was
certified as being in usable form pursuant to Resolution 6B that
was adopted by the Legislative Reapportionment Commission on
October 25, 2021.
Section 3. Adoption of adjusted census data.
The General Assembly shall adopt the adjusted census data in
Data Set Number One for use in the congressional redistricting
legislation considered prior to the 2030 decennial census of the
United States.
Section 4. Use requirement for congressional redistricting
legislation.
The General Assembly shall use Data Set Number One in the
congressional redistricting legislation considered prior to the
2030 decennial census of the United States.
Section 5. Effective date.
This act shall take effect immediately.
