AN ACT
Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, in other criminal
provisions, further providing for definitions and providing
for meetings.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 9911 of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding definitions to read:
§ 9911. Definitions.
The following words and phrases when used in this subchapter
shall have the meanings given in this section unless the context
clearly indicates otherwise:

"Probation officer." As defined in section 6304 (relating to
powers and duties of probation officers).

"Technology portal." A device, including a cellular phone
and other electronic device, that allows simultaneous voice and

video communication in real time between the offender and the
probation officer.
Section 2. Title 42 is amended by adding a section to read:
§ 9914. Meetings.
Notwithstanding section 6.1(h)(5) of the act of November 22,
1978 (P.L.1166, No.274), referred to as the Pennsylvania
Commission on Crime and Delinquency Law, in lieu of requiring an
offender who has been released on probation to appear in person
at a meeting, a probation officer may utilize technology
portals.
Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
