AN ACT
Amending Title 61 (Prisons and Parole) of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes, in general administration, further
providing for powers and duties of department.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 1105(a)(2) of Title 61 of the
Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
ยง 1105. Powers and duties of department.
(a) General rule.--The department shall have the power and
its duty shall be:

(2) To inspect county correctional institutions and to
classify them in accordance with standards adopted under
paragraph (1) as eligible to receive inmates sentenced to
maximum terms of six months or more but less than five years.
Each county facility shall be subject to at least one
announced inspection and one unannounced inspection every 36
months.
