(4) Mr. Paul worked to gain funding for cleaning and
preserving cemeteries that have long since been overgrown,
most recently working with the African-American community to
help clean up and recognize the Hayti Cemetery with a marker
on the National Historic Register.
(5) Mr. Paul worked with State representatives to pass
House Resolution No. 278 of 2019 designating May 4, 2019, as
"Forgotten Cemetery Day" in Pennsylvania.
(6) Mr. Paul also worked diligently to found the Susan
Lucas Scholarship Fund.
(7) An active member of the community, Mr. Paul also
served as the Vice President of the Marple Little League from
1980 through 1981 and as the Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop
151 at the Marple Presbyterian Church from 1983 through 1988.
(8) Mr. Paul passed away on December 29, 2020, at the
age of 77.
(b) Designation.--The portion of State Route 1020, also
known as Lawrence Road, between Springhouse Road and Parkway
Avenue in Marple Township, Delaware County, is designated as the
Richard Paul Memorial Highway.
(c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the highway to
traffic in both directions on the highway.
Section 2. Effective date.
This act shall take effect in 60 days.
