AN ACT
Amending the act of May 1, 1984 (P.L.206, No.43), entitled "An
act providing for safe drinking water; imposing powers and
duties on the Department of Environmental Resources in
relation thereto; and appropriating certain funds," providing
for maximum contaminant levels.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. The act of May 1, 1984 (P.L.206, No.43), known as
the Pennsylvania Safe Drinking Water Act, is amended by adding a
section to read:
Section 4.1. Maximum contaminant levels.
(a) General rule.--Notwithstanding section 4(a), the maximum
contaminant level for polyfluoroalkyl or perfluorinated
substances, including, but not limited to, perfluorooctane
sulfonate, perfluorooctanoic acid, perfluorononanoic acid and
perfluorohexane sulfonic acid, shall not exceed 10 parts per
trillion, until such time as subsection (b)(1), (2) or (3) is
satisfied.

(b) Testing.--A maximum contaminant level for a substance
under subsection (a) must be established by one of the
following:
(1) The Environmental Quality Board.
(2) An executive order of the Governor.
(3) The United States Environmental Protection Agency.
Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
