AN ACT
Designating a portion of State Route 2040, also known as Lebanon
Church Road, between Pennsylvania Route 885 in West Mifflin
Borough and Pennsylvania Route 51 in Pleasant Hills Borough,
Allegheny County, as the Richard D. Olasz Memorial Highway.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Richard D. Olasz Memorial Highway.
(a) Findings.--The General Assembly finds as follows:
(1) Richard D. Olasz was born on June 14, 1930, in
Homestead, Allegheny County.
(2) From 1951 to 1954, Mr. Olasz served in the United
States Coast Guard and served honorably during the Korean
War.
(3) In 1958, Mr. Olasz graduated from the University of
Pittsburgh.
(4) Then from 1972 to 1980, Mr. Olasz served on the West
Mifflin Borough Council.
(5) Mr. Olasz was first elected a member of the

Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 38th District
in November 1980, and went on serve for eight consecutive
terms.
(6) Starting in 2000 through 2001, Mr. Olasz served on
the Allegheny County Council.
(7) From 2002 until his death, Mr. Olasz again served on
the West Mifflin Borough Council.
(8) On April 8, 2010, Richard D. Olasz passed away at
the age of 79.
(b) Designation.--The section of State Route 2040, also
known as Lebanon Church Road, between Pennsylvania Route 885 in
West Mifflin Borough and Pennsylvania Route 51 in Pleasant Hills
Borough, Allegheny County, is hereby designated as the Richard
D. Olasz Memorial Highway.
(c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the highway to
traffic in both directions on the highway.
Section 2. Effective date.
This act shall take effect in 60 days.
