A RESOLUTION
Designating June 15, 2019, as "LRRP of Company I, (Rangers),
75th Infantry Division Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The United States Army Ranger history predates the
Revolutionary War; and
WHEREAS, In the mid-1700s, Major Robert Rogers supported the
formation of Ranger units to fight in the French and Indian War;
and
WHEREAS, Major Robert Rogers wrote the "28 Rules of Ranging,"
orders that are still in use today; and
WHEREAS, Since the American Revolution, Ranger military units
have operated in service to country by harassing, interdicting,
suppressing and neutralizing the enemies of the United States;
and
WHEREAS, Robert Rogers' Standing Orders and the Ranger Creed
have been applied through the centuries as wars called for the
skills of the Rangers; and
WHEREAS, Many famous men belonged to Ranger units during the
18th and 19th centuries, including the "Swamp Fox" Francis

Marion, John Singleton Mosby, Daniel Boone and Abraham Lincoln;
and
WHEREAS, After each war, the Rangers were disbanded and after
the Civil War more than half a century passed without Ranger
units; and
WHEREAS, In 1941, the United States activated six Ranger
units under the leadership of William O. Darby to fight
throughout the European and Pacific theaters of World War II,
including the "impossible missions" of North Africa; and
WHEREAS, Rangers scaled the cliffs of Pointe du Hoc
destroying enemy guns and gaining its motto, "Rangers Lead The
Way"; and
WHEREAS, The Rangers were disbanded after World War II but
reestablished during the Korean War as the need arose for
specially trained, small Ranger units; and
WHEREAS, During the Vietnam War, the activation of a Ranger
unit trained in the art of guerilla warfare with understanding
of insurgency and counterinsurgency was necessary; and
WHEREAS, After strong arguments before the Department of
Defense and the President of the United States, it was agreed
that a Ranger unit would be formed within the guidelines of the
legendary history of Ranger warfare; and
WHEREAS, General William Westmoreland facilitated a link
between long range reconnaissance patrol (LRRP) units of every
combat division in the Vietnam War zone ensuring the Ranger
lineage in battle for the United States; and
WHEREAS, LRRP/Rangers have received every military decoration
from the Medal of Honor to the Army Commendation Medal with
valor; and
WHEREAS, The LRRP of Company I, (Rangers), 75th Infantry is

considered one of the most decorated and respected Ranger units
of the Vietnam War with one of its brothers being awarded the
Medal of Honor; and
WHEREAS, The LRRP of Company I, (Rangers), 75th Infantry has
two members in the Ranger Hall of Fame located in Fort Benning,
Georgia; and
WHEREAS, The LRRP of Company I, (Rangers), 75th Infantry
visit Pennsylvania and enjoy its hospitality, people, cities,
towns and villages by holding its national convention in
Bensalem, Bucks County, Pennsylvania; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate designate June 15, 2019, as "LRRP
of Company I, (Rangers), 75th Infantry Division Day" in
Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize and honor all members of
this prestigious and elite unit, the LRRP of Company I,
(Rangers), 75th Infantry.
