A RESOLUTION
Congratulating The Pennsylvania State University wrestling team
on its eighth National Collegiate Athletic Association
Division I Wrestling Championship in the past nine years.
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State University wrestling team won
its eighth National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)
Division I Wrestling Championship in the past nine years, its
fourth consecutive championship and ninth team title overall;
and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State University wrestling Head
Coach Cael Sanderson won his eighth NCAA Division I Wrestling
Championship and earned the title of 2019 Big Ten Coach of the
Year; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State University wrestler Jason
Nolf won his third consecutive NCAA wrestling title in the 157-
pound division, his fourth appearance as an NCAA finalist,
establishing him as The Pennsylvania State University's third
three-time champion; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State University wrestler Jason

Nolf won the Big Ten Championship in the 157-pound division,
earned the All-American distinction for the fourth time, had The
Pennsylvania State University record of 60 pins, won the 2019
Big Ten Co-Wrestler of the Year title and ended his collegiate
career with a 117-3 record; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State University wrestler Bo Nickal
won his third consecutive NCAA wrestling title in the 197-pound
division, his fourth appearance as an NCAA finalist,
establishing him as The Pennsylvania State University's fourth
three-time champion; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State University wrestler Bo Nickal
won the Big Ten Championship in the 197-pound division, earned
the All-American distinction for the fourth time, won the 2019
Dan Hodge Trophy for the nation's top wrestler, won the 2019 Big
Ten Jesse Owens Male Athlete of the Year Award, won the 2019 Big
Ten Co-Wrestler of the Year title, won the 2019 NCAA Most
Dominant Wrestler Award and ended his collegiate career with a
120-3 record with 59 pins; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State University wrestler Anthony
Cassar won the 2019 NCAA National Champion title and the Big Ten
Championship title in the heavyweight division and earned the
All-American distinction; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State University wrestler Vincenzo
Joseph placed second in the NCAA wrestling 165-pound division,
placed second in the Big Ten Championship 165-pound division and
earned the distinction of All-American for the third consecutive
time; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State University wrestler Mark Hall
placed second in the NCAA wrestling 174-pound division, won the
Big Ten Championship in the 174-pound division and earned the

distinction of All-American for the third consecutive time; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State University Wrestling team
featured seven All-Americans in 2019, won the Big Ten
Championship and was awarded the NCAA Public Recognition Award
for posting elite scores in the Academic Progress Rate
compilation for the fifth consecutive year; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate congratulate The Pennsylvania State
University wrestling team on its eighth National Collegiate
Athletic Association Division I Wrestling Championship in the
past nine years; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Senate wish The Pennsylvania State
University wrestling team continued success both athletically
and academically in the future.
