A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the month of September 2019 as "National Senior
Center Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Older Americans are significant members of our
society who invest their wisdom and experience to enrich the
lives of younger generations; and
WHEREAS, The 2019 theme of "National Senior Center Month" is
"Senior Centers: The Key to Aging Well!"; and
WHEREAS, Senior centers have acted as catalysts for
mobilizing the creativity, energy, vitality and commitment of
older residents of this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Through the wide array of services, programs and
activities, senior centers empower older residents of this
Commonwealth to contribute to their own health and well-being
and the health and well-being of their fellow residents of all
ages; and
WHEREAS, Senior centers in this Commonwealth affirm the
dignity, self-worth and independence of older persons by

facilitating their decisions and actions, tapping into their
experiences, skills and knowledge and enabling their continued
contributions to the community; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the month of September
2019 as "National Senior Center Month" in Pennsylvania; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That the Senate call upon all residents to
recognize the special contributions of senior center
participants and the special efforts of staff and volunteers who
work every day to enhance the health and well-being of older
residents of our community.
