A RESOLUTION
Designating the week of April 28 through May 5, 2019, as "Days
of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, From 1933 to 1945, six million Jews were murdered in
the Nazi Holocaust as part of a systematic pogrom of genocide,
and millions of other people perished as victims of Nazism; and
WHEREAS, The people of this Commonwealth should always
remember the atrocities committed by the Nazis so that such
horrors are never repeated and continually rededicate themselves
to the principle of equal justice for all people; and
WHEREAS, The people of this Commonwealth should remain
eternally vigilant against all tyranny and recognize that
bigotry provides a breeding ground for tyranny to flourish; and
WHEREAS, May 2, also recognized as 27 Nisan 5779 in the
Hebrew calendar, has been designated internationally as a Day of
Remembrance of Victims of the Nazi Holocaust, known as Yom
Hashoah; and

WHEREAS, It is appropriate for the people of this
Commonwealth to join in the international commemoration;
therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the week of April 28
through May 5, 2019, as "Days of Remembrance of the Victims of
the Holocaust" in Pennsylvania in memory of the victims of the
Holocaust in the hope that we may strive to overcome prejudice
and inhumanity through education, vigilance and resistance.
