A RESOLUTION
Designating March 27, 2019, as "Pennsylvania Female Veterans
Day."
WHEREAS, Women have a long history of heroic and often
unrecognized service on behalf of all branches of the armed
forces; and
WHEREAS, Before integration, women's military involvement
centered on nursing and clerical positions; and
WHEREAS, Some women disguised themselves as men in order to
serve on the front lines in early American history; and
WHEREAS, The first military enlistments of women occurred
during the World War I era; and
WHEREAS, The Women's Armed Services Integration Act of 1948
authorized enlistment and appointment of women as full members
of the armed forces with veterans benefits; and
