A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the
Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
WHEREAS, This Commonwealth has one of the largest and most
diverse park systems in the country, with 121 park units
attracting more than 40 million visitors annually; and
WHEREAS, This Commonwealth offers 3,912 marina slips, 864
bridges, 131 dams and 6,537 campsites for the enjoyment of
Commonwealth residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, This Commonwealth has experienced a record increase
in park usage in 2020; and
WHEREAS, This Commonwealth has been recognized as a national
leader in the protection and restoration of our parks and
forests; and
WHEREAS, The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources
manages this Commonwealth's 2.2 million acres of forest lands by
assuring the long-term health, sustainability and economic use
