A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the week of May 10 through 16, 2020, as "National
Skilled Nursing Care Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, "National Skilled Nursing Care Week," formerly known
as "National Nursing Home Week," is part of a nationwide effort
led by the American Health Care Association since 1967 to
recognize the essential role of skilled nursing care centers;
and
WHEREAS, Approximately 116,413 nurses and staff work in more
than 700 skilled nursing care facilities that care for more than
80,000 residents in this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, The unprecedented challenges that nurses, staff and
residents at skilled nursing care facilities are facing related
to COVID-19, including the current social distancing guidelines
and the inability of friends and family to visit their loved
ones, make this time more important than ever to celebrate

WHEREAS, Nurses and staff at skilled nursing care facilities
are on the front lines in caring for and protecting one of this
Commonwealth's most vulnerable populations; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
week of May 10 through 16, 2020, as "National Skilled Nursing
Care Week" in Pennsylvania.
