A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the month of May 2020 as "Foster Care Month" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The family, a primary source of love, identity,
self-esteem and support, is the very foundation of our
communities and this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, The House of Representatives is fully committed to
strengthening and supporting all families in this Commonwealth;
and
WHEREAS, Maintaining family unity is not always possible with
families in crisis and sometimes children must be placed in a
safe and nurturing family environment outside of their own home;
and
WHEREAS, In 2018, 25,441 children in this Commonwealth were
served by foster families who selflessly shared their homes and
their hearts with them; and

WHEREAS, Foster families play a vital role in helping
children and families heal and reconnect, and in preparing
children for successful adulthood; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
month of May 2020 as "Foster Care Month" in Pennsylvania; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge all
Pennsylvanians to observe this month by volunteering their
efforts to help children in foster care and to support the
families that open their homes to them.
