A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the week of May 10 through 16, 2020, as "National
Women's Lung Health Week" in Pennsylvania and encouraging all
residents of this Commonwealth to learn more about the
detection and treatment of lung cancer.
WHEREAS, Every five minutes a woman in the United States
learns that she has lung cancer; and
WHEREAS, While the lung cancer death rate among men has
decreased 36% in the last 42 years, it has increased 84% among
women; and
WHEREAS, Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths
among women and men in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Lung cancer must be a national priority due to it
having the lowest survival rate among cancers, representing more
than one in five female cancer deaths in 2020; and
WHEREAS, The American Lung Association's LUNG FORCE
initiative seeks to defeat lung cancer; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
