A RESOLUTION
Recognizing April 2, 2020, as "International Children's Book
Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, "International Children's Book Day" (ICBD) was
created to celebrate and inspire the love of reading for
children all across the world; and
WHEREAS, ICBD was first established in 1967 by the
International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) and takes
place on or around Hans Christian Andersen's birthday; and
WHEREAS, Each year, 1 out of 70 countries is chosen to decide
upon a theme and invite a prominent children's book author and
illustrator from the host country; and
WHEREAS, The United States National Section of IBBY, located
in Illinois, last hosted ICBD in 2013 with the theme "Bookjoy
Around the World"; and
WHEREAS, This year, Slovenia was picked to sponsor ICBD 2020
and decided on the theme "Hunger for Words"; and
