A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the week of April 11 through 17, 2020, as "Week of
the Young Child" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The National Association for the Education of Young
Children (NAEYC) is celebrating "Week of the Young Child," April
11 through 17, 2020; and
WHEREAS, NAEYC works to improve early learning opportunities
that are crucial to the growth and development of young children
and build better futures for children in this Commonwealth and
throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, "Week of the Young Child" is an annual celebration
sponsored by NAEYC to highlight early learning, young children
and their teachers and families; and
WHEREAS, The purpose of "Week of the Young Child" is to focus
public attention on the needs of young children and their
families and recognize the early childhood programs and services
that meet those needs; and

WHEREAS, NAEYC first established "Week of the Young Child" in
1971, recognizing that the early childhood years, from birth
through eight years of age, lay the foundation for children's
success in school and later in life; and
WHEREAS, "Week of the Young Child" is a time to plan how
individuals can better meet the needs of all young children and
their families; and
WHEREAS, All young children and their families deserve access
to high-quality early education and care; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
week of April 11 through 17, 2020, as "Week of the Young Child"
in Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage all
residents of this Commonwealth to work to make a good investment
in early childhood education in their local communities, across
this Commonwealth and this nation; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize and
support the people, programs and policies that are committed to
high-quality early childhood education as the right choice for
young children.
