A RESOLUTION
Designating the month of March 2020 as "Youth Art Month" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Access to arts education leads to better social,
emotional and academic outcomes for students in elementary,
middle and secondary school; and
WHEREAS, Organized by the Council for Art Education, "Youth
Art Month" has been celebrated since 1961 in order to emphasize
the value of art education and encourage support for high-
quality school art programs; and
WHEREAS, The goals of "Youth Art Month" are to recognize that
art is a necessity for a better quality of life for all, direct
attention to the value of art education and encourage commitment
to the arts by students, community organizations and individuals
everywhere; and
WHEREAS, The theme for this year's "Youth Art Month" is "Take

A Journey through Art," which is being celebrated with public
displays of student artwork, art festivals and events in
schools, libraries, museums and art centers; and
WHEREAS, The House of Representatives wishes to recognize the
great contributions that art students make to communities across
this Commonwealth and help raise awareness regarding the
importance of visual arts education; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
month of March 2020 as "Youth Art Month" in Pennsylvania.
