A RESOLUTION
Designating the week of May 3 through 9, 2020, as "Affordable
Housing Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, "Affordable Housing Week" is dedicated to increasing
the availability of affordable housing and aiding all
Pennsylvanians in finding a safe and economical place to live;
and
WHEREAS, According to the United States Census Bureau, home
ownership rates are still below those recorded prior to the 2008
recession; and
WHEREAS, Too many Pennsylvanians with extremely low incomes
are burdened by rent and experience housing insecurity; and
WHEREAS, Housing is considered affordable if monthly housing
costs do not exceed 30% of household income; and
WHEREAS, Nearly half of all Pennsylvanians spend more than
30% of their income on rent and utilities combined; and
WHEREAS, Affordable housing is critical for helping
