A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the week of May 3 through 10, 2020, as "National
Music Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Music is the universal language of the world,
inspiring millions of people around the globe in a multitude of
positive ways; and
WHEREAS, Sponsored annually by the National Federation of
Music Clubs, "National Music Week" serves to enhance our
understanding and appreciation of the value of music in the
home, the community, the nation and the world; and
WHEREAS, The week of May 3 through 10 marks the 95th annual
observance of "National Music Week"; and
WHEREAS, This year's theme is "Music...A Magic Carpet"; and
WHEREAS, Music can bring joy to each person's life,
refreshing and soothing our minds and giving lofty inspiration
to our souls; and
WHEREAS, Listening to music is one of the most popular forms

of entertainment and is enjoyed by individuals and groups from
virtually all walks of life; and
WHEREAS, Music is an integral part of the American cultural
experience and ubiquitous in our everyday lives; and
WHEREAS, Music stimulates the imagination, is often thought
provoking, can generate a wide range of emotions and may evoke
fond memories; and
WHEREAS, The study of music enhances learning, and composing
and performing music provides a rich, rewarding experience for
people of all ages; and
WHEREAS, Music distinguishes generations of people from one
another and, at the same time, can uniquely establish a common
bond between different generations; and
WHEREAS, Music is an important form of art that can reflect
the history and culture of a region, state or country; and
WHEREAS, Music is a key element of most artistic
performances, including dance, theater and film; and
WHEREAS, Music can be spiritual in nature, and virtually all
religions utilize music in their expression of spiritual life;
and
WHEREAS, Music has vast potential to inspire peace, harmony
and understanding among disparate people and penetrate and tear
down walls of intolerance, hatred and injustice around the
world; and
WHEREAS, This Commonwealth has a rich history and tradition
of musical involvement and enjoyment in the lives of its
residents; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
week of May 3 through 10, 2020, as "National Music Week" in
Pennsylvania; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage the
residents of this Commonwealth in celebrating the joys and
wonders of music in all of its many forms; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
Ms. Linda Maurhoff, President, Pennsylvania Federation of Music
Clubs, 203 Downieville Road, Valencia, PA 16059-1413.
