A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the bravery and professionalism of the Philadelphia
Police Department during the events of August 14, 2019.
WHEREAS, On the afternoon of August 14, 2019, police officers
from the 39th District of the City of Philadelphia were
attempting to serve a narcotics warrant in the Nicetown area;
and
WHEREAS, In the process of serving this warrant, police
officers came under fire; and
WHEREAS, Police officers from the 14th, 25th, 35th and 39th
Districts, along with police officers from the Narcotics Strike
Force responded to the call and worked to protect the people in
the area and apprehend the suspect; and
WHEREAS, Police Officer Joshua Burkitt, a 2-year veteran
assigned to the 24th District, sustained a gunshot wound to the
