A RESOLUTION
Memorializing the Can-Am Police-Fire Games Federation to name
Butler County as the 2024 Can-Am Police-Fire Games location.
WHEREAS, The Can-Am Police-Fire Games is a biennial Olympic-
style competition for North American law enforcement and
emergency services personnel and their spouses; and
WHEREAS, Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau in
Zelienople is working to bring the 2024 Can-Am Police-Fire Games
to this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, The bureau's nonprofit status aligns with Can-Am
Police-Fire Games Federation requirements; and
WHEREAS, The bureau has extensive event management and
volunteer recruitment experience and is committed to the sports
event industry; and
WHEREAS, The Butler County Sports Commission, a bureau
affiliate, partners with Pennsylvania Sports to further attract
athletes, advisors and spectators; and
WHEREAS, Multiuse facilities such as UPMC Lemieux Sports

Complex in Cranberry Township support a variety of sports
events; and
WHEREAS, Open space at sites such as Moraine State Park in
and around Portersville is widely used for public events; and
WHEREAS, A broad network of emergency and protective services
agencies and personnel is ready to participate and assist in the
Games; and
WHEREAS, A tentative schedule sets aside a day for
registration, followed by opening ceremonies at Pullman Park in
Butler; and
WHEREAS, Six days are filled with individual and team sports
competition and family-friendly events; and
WHEREAS, The schedule incorporates activities that are unique
to the participants' duties, such as S.W.A.T. and narcotics dog
events; and
WHEREAS, Planners have slated disc golf and other activities
that are popular in western Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, Butler County residents, students, business leaders
and officials can join in celebrating physical fitness,
competition and unity among individuals who protect lives and
property in their communities; and
WHEREAS, Countywide, talented individuals and agencies are
directing their vision, as part of the bidding process, to the
success of the Games; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives memorialize the
Can-Am Police-Fire Games Federation to name Butler County as the
2024 Can-Am Police-Fire Games location.
