A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life of Pennsylvania native and auto industry titan
Lee Iacocca.
WHEREAS, Lido Anthony "Lee" Iacocca was a distinguished
native son of Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Iacocca was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, as
the son of Italian immigrants; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from Lehigh University, Mr. Iacocca
earned a master's degree in engineering from Princeton
University and went to work for the Ford Motor Company in
Chester, Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Iacocca enjoyed a career in the auto industry
spanning more than 40 years with key leadership roles at two of
America's top three car manufacturers; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Iacocca was a principal contributor in the
development of the Ford Mustang and the Chrysler minivan, two of
America's most iconic and enduring car designs; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Iacocca's tenure as the chief executive officer
of Chrysler restored the company from the brink of financial
ruin, saving a major employer and classic American brand; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Iacocca founded the Statue of Liberty-Ellis
Island Foundation, which, in collaboration with the United
States Department of the Interior, successfully raised funding
for and completed the centennial restoration of the Statue of
Liberty, reopened the Ellis Island Immigration Museum and
created the Statue of Liberty Museum; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Iacocca's larger-than-life personality,
dedication to his work, and civic-mindedness continue to inspire
Pennsylvanians and Americans everywhere; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the life of
Pennsylvania native and auto industry titan Lee Iacocca; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage
Pennsylvanians everywhere to remember and celebrate this proud
American.
